Sacred Heart Greenwich 2023 graduate Alexandra Bastone earned All-America swimming accolades in two events

Alexandra Bastone, a 2023 Sacred Heart Greenwich graduate, produced an All-America season during her senior year as a member of the Tigers’ swimming team.

The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association released its Girls High School Swimming All-America lists for each event and Bastone earned NISCA All-America honors in two events for the 2022-2-23 scholastic winter sports season.

Bastone, who will soon continue her swimming career at the Division I Ivy League level at Harvard University, gained All-America accolades in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle races this past winter for Sacred Heart.

She finished first in the 200-yard freestyle at the NEPSAC Division I Swimming Championships, held at Phillips Academy Andover, this past March. Bastone won the NEPSAC Division I 200-yard freestyle title in a NISCA All-America time of 1:49.38. Her championship time ranked 64th on the NISCA 200 freestyle All-America list.

Bastone’s winning time in the 200 freestyle at the NEPSAC Division I championship meet was a team and personal-record and also set a Phillips Academy Andover pool record.

During her high school career, Bastone was one of the top high school distance swimmers in the country. She earned the gold medal in the 500-yard freestyle at the NEPSAC Division I Championships in an All-American time of 4:50.63. Her standout time in the 500 freestyle is ranked 25th on the NISCA High School All-America list. Bastone also established pool and team records with her NEPSAC championship performance in the 500 freestyle.

Following the NEPASAC Division I championship meet this past March, Bastone was presented with the prestigious NEPSAC Division I 2023 Robertson Award. For the Robertson Award, coaches vote at the championships for outstanding student-athletes in each division who best exemplify the values of New England Prep School Swimming and Diving.
