Showcasing their sensational athletic skills, the Putka sisters, Macy and Gisele, excelled at the 2023 USA Triathlon Nationals, recently in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Putka sisters, who are Greenwich Country Day School students, created fond memories at the ultra-competitive USA Triathlon Nationals on Aug. 6 with excellent performances in the event, which included swimming, biking and running.

Gisele Putka, a Greenwich Country Day athlete, finished first in the Youth Girls 14-Year-Old Female group. Gisele – ‘Gigi’ – finished the USA Triathlon Nationals with a time of 40 minutes, 44 seconds. She registered a time of 5:45 in the swimming portion of the triathlon, then finished the bike course in a time of 20:01, ranking her fifth overall out of 54 female competitors.

Gisele finished the triathlon with a time of 12:14 in the running portion, giving her a first-place finish in the 14-Year-Old Female Group with an impressive time of 40:44.

Macy Putka placed second in the 15-Year-Old Female group at the USA Triathlon Nationals with a time of 40:16. The Greenwich Country Day athlete finished the swim portion in 6:10, then biked a speedy time of 19:59.

Macy’s time of 11:53 in the run capped an outstanding effort at the triathlon, giving her an overall time of 40:16. She finished fourth overall out of 54 female athletes.

At the 2023 USA Triathlon Nationals, the Youth and Junior Athletes had an opportunity to race during the same weekend as the country’s top Age Group Olympic and Sprint Distance athletes, making it the largest weekend of triathlon racing in the country.
