
Ten matches into its season, the Greenwich High School volleyball sports a sparkling 9-1 record and is cruising toward another standout fall campaign.
Heading into today’s road match against New Canaan, the Cardinals are 2-1 this week, earning victories at home against FCIAC opponents Wilton and Bridgeport Central. Greenwich’s loss – its lone defeat so far this season, came against St. Joseph in Trumbull on Wednesday.
The Cardinals’ busy week began on Tuesday when they posted a 3-0 win over visiting Wilton, winning the match by game scores of 25-20, 25-9, 25-10.

Senior Kassidy Bonney recorded 10 kills, nine digs, two aces, one assist, three service points and one block to help power the Cardinals past the Warriors. Hayley Dionis, a senior, registered 10 digs, three aces and one assist for the Cardinals.
Junior Sarah Bernann kept the Cardinals’ offense going with 18 assists, four aces, four digs and three service points.

On Wednesday, the Cardinals experienced their first loss of the season. Host St. Joseph was victorious against Greenwich, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22. Dionis had 19 digs, three aces and one assist, while Bonney tallied 18 kills, 14 digs, two aces, three service points and one assist in the winning effort.
Berman notched 44 assists, six digs, three service points and two aces, while GHS teammate Joy Houdre, a junior, had 10 kills and 13 digs.

Thursday saw Greenwich play its third match in as many days. The Cardinals topped Bridgeport Central, 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-7). Houdre had eight digs and seven aces and senior Grace Darnow contributed 19 assists and four aces.
Junior Cameron Clark (seven digs, four kills, three aces) and senior Skylar Wilson had 10 digs and two aces for the Cards.

Greenwich is playing New Canaan today at 2:30 p.m. The Cardinals will then visit Staples on Monday, before hosting Trumbull on Tuesday.
