
The Greenwich High School girls volleyball team certainly began the CIAC Class LL Volleyball Tournament in top form, sweeping past Ridgefield, 3-0, in Monday’s opening round.
The host Cardinals won the state tournament match by set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-13 to advance to the Round of 16, which takes place Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Greenwich High School.
Senior Kassidy Bonney helped propel Greenwich against Ridgefield, recording a team-high 17 kills, to go along with three digs, three blocks and two aces.
Junior Alina Sarkissian posted 10 kills, six digs, three aces and three blocks, while Cardinals teammate Sarah Bernann, a setter, tallied 35 assists. Bernann added four aces, 2 kills and one dig in the winning effort.
Should Greenwich defeat Newtown, it would advance to Friday’s quarterfinal-round.
