After rolling past West Haven in the opening round of the CIAC Class LL Girls Soccer Tournament, Greenwich continued its standout play in the Round of 16 against Southington in Wednesday’s game at Cardinal Stadium.
The soaring Cardinals advanced to the quarterfinal-round of the CIAC Class LL Tournament with an impressive 3-1 victory over Southington. Seeded sixth, Greenwich visits third-seeded Staples today’s 2 p.m. Class LL quarterfinals.

Senior forward Julia Acosta scored two goals and assisted on another to propel the Cardinals past Southington and into today’s Class LL quarterfinals versus Staples.
Emma Abbazia, also a senior forward, recorded one goal and one assist for the Cardinals, who sport a 12-2-4 record on the season. Greenwich and Staples played to a 2-2 regular-season draw on Sept. 27.
