Brunswick School’s wrestling team certainly made its mark at the New England Preparatory School Wrestling Association Championships, recently at Choate Rosemary Hall.
Five Brunswick wrestlers earned All-New England placement at the NEPSWA Championships and while doing so, qualified for the National Prep Wrestling Championships.
Owen Bartoszek continued his strong freshman season and wrestled to seed in earning sixth place in the 106-pound class.
Christian Yanoti, a junior, now a two-time All-New England wrestler, took seventh in the 113-pound division.

Senior co-captain Michael Accetta finished in fifth place in the 132-pound bracket, earning a top five placement at New Englands for the second straight season.
Alec Harned, a sophomore, won his 31st match of the season on his way to placing fifth in his weight class (144).
Jack Degl, a junior, finished an impressive fifth place in the toughest weight class at the tournament. Degl was seeded sixth and notched two wins in the Round of 32 against a returning All-New England wrestler by pin and then in the Round of 16 against the No. 11 seed by major decision.

In the quarterfinals this past Saturday morning, Degl earned a 6-3 victory over the No. 3-seeded wrestler, who was nationally-ranked. After falling to another nationally-ranked wrestler in the semifinals and the consolation semifinals, Degl eventually placed fifth with another win, avenging losses from earlier in the season.
Additionally, Brunswick received valuable team points with wins by freshman Marco Sethi at 126 pounds, sophomore Ethan Phelps (138-pound division), sophomore Nikki Krause (175), junior Declan Murray (215) and sophomore Michael Marini (285). Brunswick finished a stellar ninth in the team standings out of the 38 teams who earned qualification to the tournament.
The National Prep Championships at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania began today and concludes tomorrow.
