Seeded third, Brunswick School hockey team to host sixth-seeded rival Salisbury in NEPSAC Elite 8 Tournament quarterfinals

After an outstanding regular season in which it won an eye-opening 26 games, the Brunswick School hockey team received the No. 3 seed in the NEPSAC Elite 8 Tournament and will host rival Salisbury School on Wednesday in the tournament’s quarterfinal-round at 4:30 p.m. at Hartong Rink.

Cushing Academy is seeded first in the Elite 8 Tournament, which features the top eight teams in New England. The Bruins capped their 26-win regular season this past Friday night, by skating to a decisive 6-1 Senior Night win over Trinity Pawling School at Hartong Rink.

Brunswick honored its 14 seniors prior to Friday night’s Senior Night game against Trinity Pawling – and ultimately gave this special and very accomplished class a great regular-season send-off.

Brunswick’s 26th win tied the program’s 2014-2015 team that also notched the same number in Division I NEPSAC play. The Bruins enter the Elite 8 Tournament with a record of 26-5-2.

Seniors Sean Gibbons, Ryan Wachtel (two goals), Brendan Giles, and Jake Minella – as well as junior Tucker Spiess – scored the ‘Wick goals, while seniors Carter Hall, Luke Drury, Charlie Vincent, and Casey Quinson got on the sheet with assists – (As did junior defenseman Luke Hall) – in the triumph against Trinity Pawling.

Seniors Connor Choy, Connor Crosby, Carter Grimes, Luc Lampert, and Cooper Cleaves also keyed the Bruins’ victory – as was senior goaltender Will Baker, who made 22 saves to secure the win.

Brendan Giles, Brunswick’s leading scorer, was one of the seniors the team paid tribute to on its recent Senior Night.
