The 2024 season began recently for Greenwich High School’s boys lacrosse team and it posted a 9-8 road victory over St. Joseph in an FCIAC game held in Trumbull.
Junior Mikey Brescia recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Cardinals. Jake Duda, a senior, registered two goals and two assists for Greenwich, which also received two goals and two assists from senior Jimmy Flinn.
Flinn broke an 8-8 tie, scoring the game-winning goal with 1:30 remaining in the fourth quarter. Ilan Amaro, a junior, made five saves in goal for the Cardinals, while teammate Jack Hamel, a sophomore, stopped four shots.
Greenwich played non-conference, out-of-state foe Mamaroneck today on the road and remains on the road to start the season on Tuesday when it travels to Stamford for an FCIAC matchup. The Cardinals’ home-opener is on Thursday against Notre Dame-West Haven.
