Cardinals boys volleyball team edges FCIAC opponent Fairfield Ludlowe

Greenwich High School’s boys volleyball team earned its first win of the season this past Friday, posting a hard-fought 3-2 home victory over Fairfield Ludlowe in an FCIAC match.

The Cardinals won the first two sets against the Falcons, 25-22, 25-21, then Ludlowe took the next two sets, 25-15, 25-20. Greenwich then won the deciding game, 15-9, giving it the match.

James Kovac recorded 14 digs, 14 kills, two assists, one block and one ace to pace the Cardinals (1-2). Keito Fukushima registered 11 digs, 22 assists and three aces, while Greenwich teammate Logan Jaycox posted 22 digs and one ace.

Santiago Romero had 16 digs, three kills and three aces in the winning effort.

Greenwich is back in action today against visiting Staples at 4:30 p.m.
