Greenwich High School senior lacrosse athlete Emma Abbazia reaches 200 career goal milestone

Photo by David Fierro: Emma Abbazia, a Greenwich High School senior lacrosse player/captain, recently scored her 200th career goal, a spectacular achievement for a varsity athlete.

Emma Abbazia scored her 100th career goal against Newington in May of 2022 as a sophomore for the Greenwich High School girls lacrosse team and this past Tuesday, less than two years later, goal No. 200 came her way.

Abbazia reached another outstanding milestone, scoring her 200th career goal during the Cardinals game against Horace Greeley High School on Tuesday.

“It was nice to be there and celebrate it with my teammates,” said Abbazia, a senior attack, who will soon continue her lacrosse career at the Division I level at the University of Maryland. “I honestly couldn’t have done it without them. It’s a big accomplishment and I’m thankful for them.”

The talented Abbazia entered her senior season with 170 career goals, so she already has more than 30 goals through Greenwich’s first eight games. Abbazia added on to her career goals total with a three-goal performance in Greenwich’s 13-8 loss to New Canaan at Cardinal Stadium, giving her more than 200 goals for her sparkling high school lacrosse career.

She earned 2023 USA Lacrosse All-American Connecticut honors and is well on her way to having the same type of season this spring.
