Greenwich High School’s boys tennis team traveled to Westport to play one of its biggest rivals Staples on Monday and showed its depth, defeating the Wreckers, 6-1.
With the victory, the Cardinals ran their record to a perfect 6-0. Greenwich visited New Canaan, another FCIAC rival, on Tuesday. At No. 1 singles, Alexander Salib of Greenwich was victorious against Noah Wolfe, 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-0.
In the No. 2 singles match, Manuel Specos Galli pulled out a three-set win for Greenwich against Staples’ Lucas Ceballos-Cala, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. Fourth singles saw Pierre August earn a 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 win over Staples’ Shreyas Gorre.
In doubles action, Rohan Mittal and Harrison Wolfe of the Cardinals registered a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory against Hayden Frey/Mattie Guadarrama at the No. 1 spot. At second doubles, Ishan Ambastha/Daniel Lee won their match for GHS, 6-2, 6-2.
Owen Kwon/Elias Orrell teamed up for a 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 win at fourth doubles, completing Greenwich’s 6-1 win.
