Brunswick School’s baseball team earned a berth in the championship game of the FAA Tournament with a thrilling 2-0 semifinal-round win over St. Luke’s School on Tuesday at Brunswick’s Edward Campus.
The Bruins are traveling to Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden to play Hamden Hall in today’s 4:30 p.m. FAA Tournament final. Brunswick defeated Hamden Hall for the FAA Tournament championship in 2023.

Sophomore Teddy Bancroft got the start on the mound for the Bruins against the Storm and was absolutely phenomenal – pitching six scoreless innings. His fastball was dominant and he mixed in his changeup and curveball, keeping the St. Luke’s hitters off balance all afternoon. Senior Jerry Guzman came in for the seventh and retired the Storm in order to earn the save for the second-seeded Bruins, who have an overall record of 14-5.
Two-out hitting keyed Brunswick’s win. In the second inning, the Bruins had two quick outs – but junior Jackson Shepelsky walked. Sophomore Carlo Tucci walked as well, moving Shepelsky to second. Freshman Jayden Montanez then delivered a single to left field to bring in Shepelsky, giving Brunswick a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, junior Wim Nook led off with single to right field. Nook stole second and with two outs, senior Alex Giannuzzi came up clutch, singling to right field to give Brunswick a 2-0 advantage.
It was a hard-fought victory for the Bruins as excellent pitching, incredible defense and two-out hitting were the factors that ultimately led to the win.

Shepelsky is the Bruins’ starting pitcher today in the FAA final versus St. Luke’s School.
