Sacred Heart Greenwich Varsity A lacrosse players earn All-NEPSAC, Western New England honors after producing impressive seasons

Four Sacred Heart Greenwich Varsity A lacrosse athletes received All-NEPSAC honors and two players earned WNEPSWLA All-Star accolades after they excelled during the team’s successful 2024 season.

The Tigers’ All-NEPSAC honorees included in alphabetical order: Maggie Bacigalupo, Kaitlin Robinson and Payton Sfreddo. Charley Bacigalupo received All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention Recognition.

Sacred Heart finished its 2024 season with a record of 15-3 and concluded its winning campaign ranked No. 16 in the USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 Rankings.

The Tigers’ Varsity A team was also ranked No. 12 for the season in the Inside Lacrosse Q-Collar Girls Top 25 National High School Rankings. Olivia Leahy and Ava Lillis were each Western New England Prep School Women’s Lacrosse Association All-Star selections.

Maggie Bacigalupo, a 2024 SHG graduate, helped power the Tigers’ offense as a midfielder. She had numerous clutch goals throughout the season for Sacred Heart, which finished its season by winning the Prep Cup Tournament championship at Dexter Southfield in Massachusetts. Maggie Bacigalupo will continue her lacrosse career at Princeton University next season.

Robinson, was also a scoring threat for the Tigers, scoring and generating goals throughout the season and her four-season career.

She will take her Division I lacrosse skills to Duke University. An attack/midfielder, Robinson, who recently graduated, scored four goals in Sacred Heart’s 17-11 win over Phillips Andover Academy in the second game of the Prep Cup tournament and had a number of games during the season in which she scored three or more goals.

Robinson also helped lead the Tigers in the draw controls department, enabling them to gain a lot of possessions by coming up with key draw controls.

Sfreddo will further her lacrosse career at the University of Virginia. Also a field hockey and basketball standout, Sfreddo ignited the Tigers’ offense throughout her four seasons on the squad.

Among the many big offensive games she had this past season as a senior, were hat trick efforts in victories against Taft School and Phillips Andover Academy. When she wasn’t scoring goals, she was often setting up her teammates for tallies with on-target passes.

Like Robinson, Sfreddo, a midfielder/attack, served as one of the team’s senior captains this past spring season, providing leadership and inspiration to her teammates.

Charley Bacigalupo, who recently concluded her junior year, is a versatile, difficult-to-defend midfielder. She provided plenty of production offensively and throughout the field during the Tigers journey through their memorable season.

Charley Bacigalupo scored four goals in the Tigers’ 12-8 regular season triumph against Taft, recorded a hat trick in the team’s win over Phillips Andover Academy in the Prep Cup tournament, had four goals and one assist in versus Holdnerness School in the Prep Cup tourney and in the final game of the Prep Cup, had a two goal, one assist effort in a 9-4 victory over Phillips Exeter.

Those were just a few of the numerous games that Charley Bacigalupo paced SHG’s potent offense. She has committed to play lacrosse at the University of Notre Dame.

Leahy, who filled the role as one of the team’s senior captains, will attend Stanford University in the fall, where she will play lacrosse. She helped anchor Sacred Heart’s defensive unit, consistently clearing the ball out of harm’s way and successfully transferring it up the field.

Leahy’s leadership on defense helped make the Tigers a tough team to generate goals against. She also excelled on the school’s soccer and basketball teams.

Like Leahy, Lillis is a WNEPSWLA Lacrosse All-Star. A defender/midfielder, Lillis was a mainstay on defense, while also making her presence felt in the midfield.

Lillis, whose skill and experience greatly benefitted the Tigers, will play is headed to Davidson College, where she will play lacrosse.

SHG has announced its 2025 Varsity A lacrosse captains, with rising seniors Maddy Hartnett and Daphne Fallon filling the roles.
