Brunswick athletes earn NISCA All-America swimming accolades

The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association recently released its All-America Swimming lists for the 2023-2024 scholastic season and Brunswick School was once again, well represented.

Ryan Ohl, a 2024 Brunswick School graduate, who is heading to Stanford University, where he will play water polo, earned NISCA All-America swimming honors in a number of events for the 2023-2024 scholastic season.

Ohl received All-America honors in the 100-yard freestyle as a senior, registering a time of 44.18 seconds in the event, good for the 27th best time in the country. Ohl also made the NISCA All-America list in the 50-yard freestyle, with his time of :20.36 seconds ranking 54th in the nation.

Benjamin Wu, a rising Bruins senior, swam the 35th best time in the 100-yard butterfly for his junior season, clocking in at 47.93. Rory O’Connor, a rising senior, produced a time of 4:30.11 to earn NISCA All-America honors (81st time in the country).

Wu, Benjamin Atkinson, a rising senior, Chase Elliott, an incoming junior and Ohl recorded NISCA All-American accolades in the 200 freestyle (1:24.24, 63rd best time in the nation). Elliott, Wu, O’Connor and Ohl combined to earn NISCA All-America honors in the 400 freestyle relay during the 2023-2024 winter season, notching a time of 3:04.13.

For the 2023-2024 winter season, Brunswick won the team title at the FAA Swimming Championships, amassing 189 team points. At the NEPSSA (New England) Championships, the Bruins placed a solid fourth in the team standings with 275 points.
