Mollie Wood, a rising Greenwich High School senior, sailed with Sydney Lombard at the 2024 C420 Women’s North American Championship and the Mixed North American Championships in California and the duo certainly made their mark, producing strong, consistent results.
Wood and Lombard, representing One United Sailing, a performance training and coaching program that develops sailors in the Class 420 fleet, finished in 19th place overall at the C420 Women’s North American Championship, which was hosted by Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation in Westport Harbor Boulevard in Redwood, Calif.
Wood, who is a member of Greenwich High School’s sailing team, and Lombard posted impressive results in five races at the C420 Championships near San Francisco.

They finished in ninth place in their first race, were 10th in their second race and placed 17th in their fifth race. At the Mixed North American Championships, also in California, the duo tested their sailing skills in a regatta including more than 150 boats.
Wood and Lombard held their own, placing near the top 50 overall after competing in all of their races. Currently, Wood is sailing at the 2024 C420 US National Championships at Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club.

One of the sailing coaches at Rocky Point Club in Old Greenwich, Wood was selected as a captain of the Greenwich High School sailing team for the 2025 season. Also competing in the C420 US National Championships are Greenwich High School’s Luca LaRosa, Michael Donovan and Richard Sykes.
