With only two games remaining in the regular season, the Sacred Heart Greenwich field hockey team sports a sparkling 12-2 record and is primed for the postseason.
The Tigers added two more wins to their record this past week, posting a 6-0 victory over host Millbrook School, then edging FAA opponent Greens Farms Academy on the road, 3-2. Sacred Heart hosts Westminster School today at 3 p.m., then visits St. Luke’s School in New Canaan on Oct. 28 to close out the regular season.
After that, the postseason begins for the Tigers, who advanced to the FAA Tournament final in 2023. In the Tigers’ 6-0 win over Millbrook, Elle Corcoran opened the scoring, tallying off a pass from Charly Nemec with 13:22 remaining in the first quarter. Caeley Clough had a goal at the 10:18 mark of the first quarter, making it 2-0. Nemec extended Sacred Heart’s lead to 4-0 with a goal with 8:32 still left in the first quarter.
Kingsley Ely concluded Sacred Heart’s impressive four-goal first quarter with a goal at the 5:46 mark of the first quarter. Ainsley Clough and Caeley Clough had a goal apiece in the second quarter in the winning effort. Casey Smith was in goal for the shutout win.
“Our team worked very well together,” Ainsley Clough said. “We focused on moving the ball, using small passes to each other as we went up the field. The team worked very hard and stayed composed in the circle, allowing us to finish our shots. I am so proud of the growth we have had as a team.”

In the hard-fought road victory against Greens Farms, Grace Almeida’s goal gave GFA a 1-0 lead with 13:33 to go in the first quarter. Nemec evened the score 42 seconds later with a goal. The Tigers took a 2-1 edge in the second quarter behind a goal from Ely with 5:47 left. Ely added a goal off an assist from Xan Collins with 3:39 to go in the third quarter. Greens Farms scored with 30 seconds left in the third quarter.
Teresa Harkins made six saves for Sacred Heart. Ellie Rosen had eight saves for GFA, while teammate Izzy Kittredge stopped four shots.
“Today we had a very physical game against GFA,” SHG coach Alex Gheorghe said. “We are happy with the end result, and need to stay focused for our next game against Westminster.”
