One of the season-long goals of the Greenwich High School varsity cheerleading team was to shock the state. The Cardinals accomplished such a goal when they captured the CIAC Class LL Championship, after winning the FCIAC Championship.
After showcasing their championship skills at the FCIAC and state competitions, the Cardinals then capped their storybook season to remember by winning the Division I title at the 17th Annual New England Interscholastic Cheerleading Spirit Championship at Worcester State University in Worcester, Massachusetts on March 22.
Greenwich, indeed, made history when they won the Regional Championship meet in Massachusetts. Never in the 17 year history of the New England Interscholastic Spirit Championship had a cheer team from Connecticut won the Division 1 title until the Cardinals claimed the title on March 22.

The 17th annual New England Interscholastic Cheerleading Spirit Championship was a competition that included the top cheer teams of public and private high schools in the states of Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
“I absolutely knew this team had what it took,” Greenwich High School head varsity cheerleading coach Julia Vyskocil said. “They came into the season ready to work. They worked so incredibly hard. Our goal from the beginning of the season was to shock the state. When we started preparing for Regionals, we all knew that we could shock the region as well, but we were already so proud of our accomplishments and knew that now our goal was to have fun, enjoy the last competition as a team and just do our best.”
“It was beyond our wildest dreams to accomplish what we did,” Vyskocil continued. “This team is unbelievably special and will truly go down in history.”

Competing with confidence, passion and poise, the Cardinals excelled in their final competition of the season, completing the final chapter of their storybook season in style.
“Our team goal was to take the mat and put on a performance that we would be proud of, since it would be the last time we competed this historic routine,” Vyskocil said. “These athletes did just that. They walked off incredibly proud of what they accomplished and didn’t care where they placed because they knew they had already accomplished so many of their goals and capped off an incredible season of hard work, passion and dedication.”
“The most incredible moment of the competition was when they announced Greenwich High School as the 2025 Division 1 Spirit New England Regional Champions,” Vyskocil continued. “It was just such an indescribable feeling and one that I and the girls and our family, friends, and supporters will never forget.”

In addition to the stellar season, five athletes were selected as CHSCA All-State Cheerleaders: seniors Jane Trager (All Academic) and Siera Rollins and juniors Claire Kilcullen, Ingrid Imp and Leila Alza. Three athletes selected as All-FCIAC Cheerleaders: seniors Jane Trager, Siera Rollins and Sierra Erensen. Five athletes were also selected as NCA All American Cheerleaders: seniors Jane Trager, Siera Rollins and Sierra Erensen, junior Ingrid Imp and sophomore Darby Kent.
Vyskocil will always remember this season’s Greenwich varsity cheerleading team, which captured the Triple Crown, winning the FCIAC, Class LL and New England Division I championships.

“Getting to coach this team has been one of the most amazing opportunities in my life,” she said. “They have become family and I feel so honored and proud that we all made history together. I have never met a more deserving, hard working group of young scholar athletes who all trusted me, trusted each other, trusted the process and accomplished this incredible triple crown achievement. This team is so special and they are so proud to represent Greenwich and especially the Greenwich Cheer alumni that came before them. I just can’t stop smiling and I am so proud.
