Cardinals boys tennis team tops Stamford, Norwalk continues undefeated season

Greenwich High School’s boys tennis team has added two more dominant wins to its ledger this week, sweeping past FCIAC opponents Stamford High School and Norwalk High School.

The Cardinals registered 7-0 victories against both the Black Knights and Bears to run their record to a perfect 11-0. Against Norwalk on May 8, senior Alexander Salib was in his usual top form at the No. 1 singles, recording a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Sophomore Owen Kwon was victorious at second singles for the Cardinals, posting a 6-0, 6-0 win. At No. 3 singles, Zachary Schwartz was also perfect, winning a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Milo Russo was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fourth singles for the Cardinals, who won all three doubles matches by forfeit.

Against Stamford on May 7, Greenwich received a 2-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3 win from senior Manuel Galli Specos at No. 1 singles. Junior Elias Orrell earned a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles, while Schwartz was victorious at third singles for the Cards. Russo earned a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at the No. 4 spot.

In doubles play, seniors Rohan Mittal and Nick Frumin were victorious for the Cardinals, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1. Senior Ishan Ambastha and freshman Francesco Lindia won at the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-0, while senior Adam McFarlane and sophomore Amir Fischer were also 6-0, 6-0 winners at No. 4.

Greenwich, which has now won 55 consecutive matches dating back to the 2023 season, visits FCIAC rival Ridgefield High School tomorrow (May 10) at 1 p.m.
