Cardinals boys lacrosse team earns overtime win over Wilton on a goal by Dean Kim; Greenwich visits Darien in quarterfinal-round of FCIAC tourney

The regular season certainly ended in thrilling and rewarding fashion for Greenwich High School’s varsity boys lacrosse team.

In a back-and-forth battle, the Cardinals closed out their 2025 regular season by edging FCIAC rival Wilton, 7-6, in overtime. The dramatic win gave Greenwich a 10-6 record and positive momentum heading into the FCIAC Tournament, which begins today (May 23).

Seeded fifth, Greenwich visits fourth-seeded Darien in the 4:30 p.m. FCIAC Tournament quarterfinals. Junior attack Dean Kim provided the heroics for the Cardinals against the Warriors. Kim scored the game-winning goal in overtime, sending the Cardinals to the one-goal win.

Kim scored two goals, while junior midfielder Boden Farmer recorded a hat trick and senior attack Mikey Brescia had two goals and two assists to ignite Greenwich’s offense.

Colin Zeller, a senior midfielder and senior attack Guy Germain, also a senior midfielder each assisted on a goal for Greenwich, which was coming off a tough 9-8 loss at Cheshire.

Senior Ilan Amaro made nine saves in goal for Greenwich, which received strong defensive play throughout against the Warriors.

Farmer gave Greenwich a 1-0 lead on Wilton, scoring off a nifty behind-the-back shot from close in with 7:31 remaining in the first quarter.

Kim made it 3-0 in favor of the Cards by tallying at the 4:21 mark of the opening quarter. Junior Teddy Johnson, sophomore Alex Neitzel, freshman Evitt Straub and senior Chase Inesta were among some of the athletes that led Greenwich’s impressive defensive effort versus the Warriors.

Besides beating Wilton, Greenwich defeated Staples, Fairfield Warde, Trumbull, Weston, Joel Barlow, Fairfield Ludlowe, St. Joseph, Notre Dame-West Haven and Westhill during the regular season.
