Greenwich High varsity girls basketball defeats Oxford, New Canaan to win Bethel Holiday Tournament

Greenwich High School’s varsity girls basketball team ended the year with a tournament title.

The Cardinals won the Bethel High School Holiday Tournament by defeating New Canaan High School in the tournament’s championship game, 44-16.

Greenwich senior forward/guard Madi Utzinger was named the tournament’s MVP and of course, was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Sophomore center Zuri Faison was named to the All-Tournament team for the Cardinals. Prior to earning a 44-16 win over New Canaan in the championship game of the Bethel Holiday Tournament on Dec. 29, the Cardinals topped Oxford High School, 54-36, in the tourney’s first round on Dec. 27th.

For the season, Greenwich, coached by Megan Wax, has a record of 3-1. The Cardinals will be in action again on Jan. 2, when they will host non-conference foe Notre Dame Prep at 7 p.m.
