Greenwich High School girls ice hockey team tops Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon

Greenwich High School’s varsity girls ice hockey team earned an impressive 4-3 comeback win in overtime against FCIAC foe Wilton-Norwalk-McMahon on Dec. 29th, 2025, at Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink.

The victory improved the Cardinals’ overall record to 2-3 overall and was their first FCIAC win of the 2025-2026 season. Greenwich played well in a 3-2 loss to FCIAC rival New Canaan at Darien Ice Rink on Dec. 10th and was edged by conference opponent Ridgefield, 8-6, at the Winter Garden Ice Rink on Dec. 19th.

Greenwich is playing the combined Stamford-Westhill-Staples team today (Jan. 3rd) at 5:20 p.m. In Greenwich’s 4-3 triumph against Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon this past Monday, sophomore forward Miren Woolven evened the score at 1-1 for the Cardinals when she scored with 5:06 remaining in the first period.

After Wilton-Norwalk-McMahon took a 2-1 lead by scoring a goal with 1:00 left in the second period, GHS knotted the score again at the 12:35 mark of the third period. That’s when sophomore Haley Dreher registered a goal off an assist from Kiki Worden, making the score 2-2.

Visiting Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon went ahead, 3-2, just 16 seconds later with a goal, but Greenwich forced overtime with a goal from Worden late in the third period.

Worden scored off an assist from Dreher with only 1:40 remaining in the third period, sending the game into overtime. In OT, Alexa Kwasniewski scored the game-winning goal for the Cardinals. She tallied with seven minutes left in the overtime period, giving Greenwich the hard-fought win.
