A mainstay on Sacred Heart Greenwich’s varsity basketball team since her freshman year, Eva Wilkerson recently reached a special milestone that not many players attain.
Wilkerson scored her 1,000th career point in Sacred Heart’s road game against Thayer Academy on Jan. 17th, putting her in an elite class of basketball players in the school’s program. Wilkerson reached and eclipsed the 1,000 career point plateau in the Tigers’ 66-52 win over Thayer Academy.
A dynamic guard, Wilkerson added to her 1000-plus point total for Sacred Heart in the team’s 63-48 road victory over Choate Rosemary Hall on Jan. 23 and in the Tigers’ tough 50-46 home loss to Worcester Academy on Jan. 24th.

In Sacred Heart’s home game versus Worcester Academy, the team honored Wilkerson with a ceremony celebrating her 1000th career point milestone. Wilkerson reflected on reaching the 1000 career point mark following Sacred Heart’s 61-55 win at home against FAA foe Greens Farms Academy on Jan. 27th.
“It felt really good, but I have to thank coach Hart and my teammates for that, because without them, this wouldn’t be possible,” said Wilkerson, who enjoyed how the team recognized her milestone.
“It’s the nature of Sacred Heart,” said Wilkerson, who went on to describe her experience at Sacred Heart. “It’s been really great, I’ve had a lot of great role models to look up to in past years and I’ve just tried to embody what they taught me and try to move that through to the younger players.”

Sacred Heart coach Ayo Hart appreciates Wilkerson’s all-around play on both ends of the court, which has been instrumental in her scoring achievements.
“Eva didn’t just reach 1,000 points because she can score,” Hart said. “She reached it because she is one of the best rebounding guards in our conference, because she defends at a high level and makes winning plays.”
“These show up in the stat sheet, but it shows up even more in how our team plays when she’s on the floor,” Hart added.
