Greenwich High School’s girls water polo team continued its undefeated season with victories over Phillips Andover Academy and two-time defending New England Prep School Champions Williston Northampton this past Saturday.

For the season, Greenwich owns an outstanding 16-0 record. In the brand-new state of the art Pan Athletics center on the campus of Phillips Andover Academy, the Cardinals beat the hosts, 13-2, before upending Williston Northampton, 9-3.

In game one, senior captains/twins Ashley and Olivia Hopper combined for four goals, five assists and six steals to spark the Cardinals. Sophomores Kaleigh Murphy and Shea Morris each had two goals. In total, nine different Cardinals found the scoresheet. Sophomore goalie Norah Mendelsohn had six saves before being relieved by classmates Julia Gustafsson and Murphy, who combined for eight saves in the winning effort.

In a much-anticipated matchup against the predominant powerhouse in the New England Prep School League, the Cardinals raced out to 5-0 first quarter and quickly put the game out of reach. Mendelsohn was strong in goal with nine saves allowing just three goals. Murphy led the way with a hat trick and Morris added two goals and four assists for GHS. Ashley and Olivia Hopper, Gustafsson, and freshman Ellison Charette each added one goal apiece.

Up next for the Cardinals is their final home game on Tuesday at GHS, where they will recognize their departing seniors.
