The Greenwich High School softball team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to visiting Wilton in an FCIAC game held on Wednesday.
The Warriors (3-5) scored one run in the second inning and a run in the third inning in the win. Greenwich senior pitcher Kayla Darling allowed two runs and three hits in a complete-game effort. A right-hander, Darling did not issue a walk.
“Kayla pitched a great game,” Greenwich coach Mary Beth Fratello said. “Our defense played really well. The team is very young be we are improving each day.”
Greenwich scored a run in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by senior Chloe Smith, who plays first base. Kate D’Andrea singled for the Cardinals, who visit Westhill on Friday at 4 p.m. The Cardinals will host Westhill on Saturday at 11 a.m. Greenwich will then play host to Ridgefield on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
