Getting hat tricks from four players, the Sacred Heart Greenwich lacrosse team recorded a 16-2 road victory against Greens Farms Academy in an FAA game held in Westport on Wednesday.
“We played a good game and we gained momentum as the game went on,” Sacred Heart coach Alyson Costigan said. “I’m really proud of the girls for honing in on some of the things we have been working on in practice.”
Payton Sfreddo, Kelly Haggerty, Maggie Baccigalupo and Fiona Lewis scored three goals apiece to power the Tigers offensively. Kaitlin Robinson tallied twice, while Abby Barnett and Karina Sethi each had one goal in the winning effort.
Rachel Keefe made six saves in goal and teammate Laura O’Connor stopped two shots in net for Sacred Heart (4-2). Hannah Dempsey assisted on two goals and Dylan Drury, Robinson and Sfreddo each had one assist.
The Tigers host Holy Child on Saturday, then play host to Greenwich Academy on Wednesday.
“It was a great team win and we are excited to keep the momentum up the last couple of weeks of the season,” Costigan said. “We’re excited to play against another good team.”
