Senior attack Delaney Roth and sophomore midfielder Sophia Neitzell each recorded a hat trick with one assist to help propel the Greenwich High School girl lacrosse team to a 17-3 victory against host Stamford on Thursday in an FCIAC game.
The Cardinals, who were coming off a tough 12-11 overtime loss to Ridgefield, improved their record to 4-2 with the victory. Freshman attack Emma Abbazia, sophomore attack Cece Tauber, senior midfielder Grace Collier, junior midfielder Noey Johnson and junior attack Kaylie Kitselman each scored two goals for the Cardinals. Collier and Kitselman also assisted on a goal in the win.
Sophomore defender Sophie Roth added a goal and senior midfielder Emma Norton had an assist for Greenwich, which received five saves from sophomore Daryl Furno.
Greenwich visits Fairfield Warde on Saturday at 3 p.m.
GREENWICH SOFTBALL
Greenwich was defeated by Staples, 17-5, on Thursday in an FCIAC matchup held in Westport.
The Wreckers, who led 7-5 after four innings, broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning and seven-run sixth inning. Staples collected 16 hits for the game.
Senior Chloe Smith, who plays first base, went 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs for Greenwich. Senior catcher Olivia McClammy was 2 for 3 with a single and a double for the Cardinals, who had seven hits. Kate D’Andrea pitched for Greenwich.
Greenwich hosts New Canaan today at 4:30 p.m.
