The Greenwich softball team was eliminated from the FCIAC Tournament with a 20-3 loss to powerhouse Fairfield Ludlowe in the first round on Friday in Fairfield.
The second-seeded Falcons scored five runs in the first inning, added six more in the third inning, then ended the game with 10 runs in the fifth inning. Ludlowe pounded out 21 hits in the game. With the five-inning victory, Ludlowe improved its record to 17-1.
Sophomore Kate D’Andrea went 2 for 3 with two singles for the Cardinals. Greenwich scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning. Senior Kayla Darling pitched for Greenwich, which competes in the CIAC Class LL Tournament next.
Ludlowe advanced to the FCIAC Tournament’s quarterfinal-round with the victory, where it will have a home game.
