Greenwich’s boys golf team earned a 159-159 tie against rival Staples in a late-season FCIAC match held on Tuesday at Longshore Golf Club in Westport.
Cardinals sophomore Charles Schrohe was the medalist of the match, shooting a 2-under-par 34. Luke Scanlan, a junior, carded a 36. Matias Lew, a Greenwich senior, shot a 37, as did freshman and teammate Owen Duda.
Tucker Lawrence and Luca Robins each posted rounds of even-par 36, while Graham Day carded a 40 for Staples. Evan Trock also carded a 40 for the Wreckers.
Against Darien at Wee Burn Country Club on Wednesday, the Cardinals were defeated by the Blue Wave, 157-164. Eric Lancelotti of Darien earned medalist honors, shooting a 1-over-par 36. Matt Hellman of the Blue Wave carded a 38, while Preston Yao shot a 49 for Darien.
For Greenwich, Scanlan registered a round of 39 and Schrohe shot a 40. William Grimes (37) and Duda (42) also paced the Cardinals. Greenwich finished the regular season with a record of 10-3-1. They are competing in the Chappa Tournament today at Longshore, then will play in the FCIAC Tournament on June 3.
