
Greenwich’s Matthew Luzzi received All-FCIAC First Team Singles honors recently, as the FCIAC released its 2021 boys tennis awards.
Luzzi, turned in a strong senior season for the Cardinals at the No. 1 singles spot. Facing tough competition throughout the season, Luzzi earned some hard-fought victories throughout the season. Dylan Atkinson, a sophomore, was an All-FCIAC Second Team Singles selection.
Atkinson went undefeated at second singles for the Cardinals during the regular season and lost only two matches all season. Atkinson qualified for the CIAC Boys Tennis Invitational Tournament and advanced to the second round. He will be relied upon to lead Greenwich’s singles lineup in 2022.
Sophomores Cai Jain and Nick O’Brien were All-FCIAC Second Team Doubles Team recipients. Jain and O’Brien excelled at No. 2 doubles for the Cardinals and should be among the duos leading the team next season.
Colin Speaker and Christian Fikre, who recently concluded their senior season on the squad, each received FCIAC Honorable Mention accolades. Fikre and Speaker were Greenwich’s No. 1 doubles team and provided leadership on and off the court throughout the season.
