Sacred Heart Greenwich will compete in national tourney next week. Greenwich Academy will play in national championships next week.
Greenwich Academy, Greenwich High School and Sacred Heart Greenwich are among the teams that will compete in the Girls High School National Championship next week at Farmington Sports Arena (FSA Sports) in Farmington, Conn.
The Girls High School National Championship, an invitational tournament, includes 39 teams from 10 states – Connecticut, New York, Delaware, Massachusetts, Oregon, Illinois, New Jersey, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 2.
Each team is guaranteed to play four games, with the bracket winners advancing to single-elimination competition. One team will be awarded the National High School Champion on the final day of action.
Greenwich will take part in the National Championship. Darien will test its skills in the lacrosse national championships.
Besides Greenwich High, the FCIAC teams that will compete in the national tournament include: Class L champion Darien, FCIAC champion New Canaan, Staples and Wilton. Along with Sacred Heart Greenwich and Greenwich Academy, the private schools from Connecticut that will take part in the tournament are Hotchkiss School, Loomis Chaffee, Taft and Westminster.
The tournament’s semifinals and championship game will be live streamed. More than 50 college coaches, representing over 30 schools (some schools are bringing more than one coach) will attend the High School National Championship. The college coaches will select eight teams of All-Stars from the tournament. These athletes/teams will then compete against each other in the High School All-American Lacrosse Games in July.
