The Sacred Heart Greenwich volleyball team traveled up to Pomfret School on Saturday for matches against Pomfret and Deerfield Academy and played well, splitting its matches.
The Tigers posted a 2-0 win against Pomfret and lost to Deerfield, 2-0. In their victory against Pomfret, the Tigers received eight kills, three digs and one ace from Grace Gapen. Emilia Bernal registered three kills, three aces and three digs, while teammate Kaitlin Robinson tallied four kills, one block and one dig in the winning effort.
Evangelyn Forte had two aces, two digs and moved the offense along with 15 assists for Sacred Heart (2-3). Natalie Becue and Juliette Ingram also sparked Sacred Heart to victory with strong serving.
Against Deerfield, Bernal had three aces, three kills and three digs, while Robinson added two kills. Gapen had one kill and one block, to go along with five digs and Forte notched nine assists, four digs and one ace. Up next for Sacred Heart is a home match against Greens Farms Academy on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
