Brunswick School’s cross country team continued its strong season Wednesday at its second FAA meet of the season, posting a 6-1 record against its league foes at Sherwood Island in Norwalk.
Senior Lucas Pombo paced the Bruins with a first-place finish in the 3.1-mile race. Pombo registered a winning time of 16:16.80 for the Bruins, who beat Greens Farms Academy, 26-30, St. Luke’s, 21-39, Rye Country Day School, 19-41, King 19-43, Greenwich Country Day, 19-43 and Masters, 18-43. Brunswick’s lone loss of the meet came against Hopkins School, 28-31.
Pombo led from start to finish on his way to winning the race with a personal-record time. Nathan Lee, a freshman, finished fourth for Brunswick with a time of 17:09.90, followed by Luke Dougherty (17:52.80, sophomore, ninth place).
Carter Bagaria, a sophomore was 25th (19:12.70), while Charlie Stemerman (19:31.20, junior) and Kieran Raker (19:35.00, junior) were 28th and 29th, respectively, for Brunswick, which has an overall record of 12-2 on the season.
Sophomore Thomas Coughlin posted a time of 20:50.50, freshman Freddie Parkin finished the race in 20:13.20 and Patrick Duncan had a time of 20:14.50 for the Bruins.
For Greenwich Country Day School, junior Al Nickerson placed third with a time of 17:05.90 and senior Harrison Cole was 30th (19:35.00). Vaughn Shannonhouse, a senior, finished the race in 20:09.90 and freshman Landon Ristau had a time of 20:11.70 for Greenwich Country Day.

GHS also ran this week against New Canaan, Darian & Fairfield Ward & defeated them. Leading the way for the Varsity Cardinals was GHS Captain Zachary Jelinek with a 1st place finish in the meet in a time of 16:26, an 18 second PR on the course. Christian Zawislack finished 2nd for GHS and 3rd overall in a time of 16:40 & Quinn Collins finished 3rd.
