Behind sophomore Maddy Lee’s first-place finish, Greenwich Academy defeated all of its opponents at an FAA cross country meet held at Sherwood Island Park in Norwalk on Wednesday.
Greenwich Academy now has a 16-2 record on the season and is in a three-way tie with Sacred Heart Greenwich and Hopkins School atop the FAA standings. GA finished with a team score of 43 points, good for first place in the team standings at Wednesday’s meet. Hopkins was second (49), followed by Sacred Heart Greenwich (55) and Greenwich Country Day (111). Rye Country Day School took fifth (109), followed by Holy Child (159), Masters (206) and King (243).
Lee won the race for GA with a personal-record time of 19:37. Ava Butz, a senior captain, finished fourth overall in the race, clocking in at 20:45, also a personal-record performance for Greenwich Academy. Grace Sullivan, a sophomore, was 10th with a personal-record time of 21:35, while Emily Goodman finished 16th (personal-record time of 22:35) for GA.
Katie McIntyre, a sophomore, finished 20th for Greenwich Academy, registering a personal-record time of 22:49. Grace Crookenden, a junior (24:22) and Poppy Huffman, an eighth-grader (24:27) also turned in personal-best times for Greenwich Academy.
Chloe Castro-Burnette, Casey Duval, Scarlett Fishkind and Ashley Aufderheide also recorded personal-best efforts for GA.
For Sacred Heart, sophomore Ava Lillis took third overall in the race, posting a time of 20:40.60. Maggie Finn, a freshman gave Sacred Heart a ninth-place finish in 21:35.00 and Olivia Berkery, a senior, was 13th in 22:08.60.
Anne Finn, a junior, was 17th in 22:36.50, while Katherine May finished 25th for Sacred Heart with a time of 23:14.10. Jacquelyn Monahan, a junior, posted a time of 23:36.00 for the Tigers.
For Greenwich Country Day School, Erin Dixon finished sixth overall with a time of 21:14.50. Freshman Natalie Simpson finished the race in 23:31.60, Rory Ashmeade clocked in at 23:35.00 and Ellery Futch posted a time of 23:43.60 for Greenwich Country Day.
