
Greenwich Academy’s basketball team dropped a 54-22 decision to visiting School of the Holy Child in an FAA game held on Monday.
The Gators received 10 points from forward Emily Sherman. A freshman, Sherman made a 3-pointer for GA (0-4). Este Tejpaul, also a senior forward, added six points, with four of them coming in the second half for a young Greenwich Academy team, which is focusing on improvement this season.
“We showed some great toughness and executed in spots,” GA coach Jordan Griffith said. “We’re slowly taking steps forward with a great group of athletes. I expect us to get better and better.”

Guard Lizzie Scalzo converted two 3-pointers and scored 10 points overall for Holy Child, which held a 27-7 halftime lead. Forward Ellie Pettus also scored 10 points for the Gryphons and made a 3-pointer.
Amanda Spillane, a guard, added nine points, including a 3-pointer to help pace Holy Child’s winning effort. For Greenwich Academy, freshman guard Ruby Montanez had three points, while senior forward Ellie Burdick scored two points.
Up next for GA is a game against FAA rival Sacred Heart Greenwich on Wednesday. The game between the Tigers and Gators is scheduled to be held at 3:34 p.m. on Wednesday.
