Sacred Heart swim team posts victories against Greenwich Country Day and Kennedy Catholic on its Senior Day; Greenwich Country Day tops Kennedy Catholic

Sacred Heart Greenwich’s swim team recently celebrated its Senior Day in style.

The Tigers topped Greenwich Country Day School and Kennedy Catholic in a home meet on Wednesday – a meet in which it celebrated its seniors on Senior Day. Sacred Heart defeated Greenwich Country Day, 35-29 and beat Kennedy Catholic, 36-22. Greenwich Country Day was victorious against Kennedy Catholic, 28-24.

The meet began with Sacred Heart winning the 200-yard medley relay race. Charlotte Fallon, Elisa Taylor, Fiona Powers and Catriona Marangi combined for a winning time of 2:19.27 for the Tigers. GCDS placed second in the race with a time of 2:21.60.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Alexandra Marshall finished first for Sacred Heart, clocking in at 2:19.62. Emily Behr gave Greenwich Country Day a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:21.62) and Jane Cary of Sacred Heart was second (2:21.65), followed by teammate Victoria Mordaunt (2:22.38).

Sacred Heart’s Elisa Taylor won the 50 freestyle (28.14) and teammate Grace Iannacone was the runner-up in 30.16. The 100 butterfly saw Julia Pujadas of Sacred Heart touch the wall first in 1:10.32. Cary took first place in the 100 freestyle for Sacred Heart, posting a time of 1:00.49. Behr of GCDS was second in 1:01.88, while teammate Kathryn Byxbee finished third.

Emily Shull of Sacred Heart was the 500 freestyle winner (7:58.54) and Fallon, Powers, Iannaccone and Taylor combined for a winning time of 1:58.43. In the 100 backstroke, Pujadas finished with a first-place time of 1:09.27, while Fallon finished second.

Mordaunt was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.83). The meet concluded with Sacred Heart’s Annika Wise, Beata Servick, Shull and Mordaunt winning the 400 freestyle relay.
