Brunswick’s hockey team extended its winning streak to five games and raised its record to 10-3-1 with another decisive victory Friday night before its large home crowd at Hartong Rink.
Donning their camo jerseys, the Bruins defeated the Delbarton Green Wave, 4-1, for their 10th win of the season.
The Bruins scored on the first two shifts of the game on goals by sophomores Drew DellaSalla and Sean Gibbons. Gibbons’ tally came on a perfectly executed neutral zone faceoff play.
Delbarton settled in and had plenty of chances, including several breakaways, before the end of the first 18 minutes, but junior goalie Brendan Holahan was locked in and kept the visitors scoreless. He had 29 saves to earn the win in net.
In the second period, it took until five minutes left in the frame before Brunswick broke through for its third goal of the game on a tally by senior defenseman Maxime Sauve, who snuck down to the backdoor and tucked a feed from DellaSalla up under the bar, making the score 3-0.
Sophomore Luke Drury tipped home a Sauve point shot to push the lead to 4-0 midway through the third period, with the second assist going to sophomore Jake Minella. Delbarton finished things off with a power play goal for their lone goal.
The Bruins, ranked No. 5 in the current RPI remained undefeated on Hartong ice (3-0). Hoosac School visits Brunswick Monday at 4:30.
