Greenwich High School’s girls ice hockey team won its second straight game and improved its overall record to 9-5-1 by registering a well-earned 7-5 victory over Wilton-McMahon-Norwalk in an FCIAC matchup held on Wednesday.
The Cardinals enter their Senior Day game against East Catholic co-op on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. on a winning note, having gone 2-0-1 in their last three games. In their victory against Wilton-McMahon-Norwalk on Wednesday, senior forward Lexi Danielson and junior forward Kesley Roth scored two goals apiece to power the Cardinals.
Junior forward Caroline Lawrence, senior defender Tess Marciano and freshman defender Nina Coffee each recorded one goal for Greenwich, which has two games remaining in its regular season, before the FCIAC Tournament begins next weekend.
The Cardinals are locked into the No. 4 seed in the four-team FCIAC Tournament. Sophie Roth, a junior forward, assisted on three goals in the Cardinals victory, which saw goalie Emma Kunschner make 18 saves.
“Wilton has a bunch of strong players and we had to bear down to get the ‘W’,” Greenwich coach Brooke Heron said.
Following their game Saturday, the Cardinals close out the regular season with a game against West Haven on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink.
