Brunswick scored four first-period goals — including three in the final 1:21 of the frame — and ultimately shut out Albany Academy, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon in New York’s state capital.
Bruins coach Mike Kennedy noted that junior goaltender Will Baker was the squad’s No. 1 star for the game. Kennedy said Baker bailed out his teammates on a number of occasions during the contest and wound up with 27 saves for the game.
Junior co-captain James Shannon registered two goals, as did sophomore Sean Gibbons. Senior defenseman John Burdett also recorded a goal to pace Brunswick.
Currently, Brunswick sits near the top of the NEPSAC Large School Tournament bracket with two league games remaining to try to improve its standing. Anything’s possible this time of year with every matchup on the NEPSIHA schedule having an impact on the RPI.
The Bruins have a rematch with Frederick Gunn in Washington, Conn., on Friday night at 6 p.m.
