
Greenwich’s boys tennis team earned its second straight convincing victory, defeating host Fairfield Ludlowe, 7-0, in an FCIAC match held on Tuesday.
At first singles, Greenwich junior Dylan Atkinson posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ryan Leavay. David Karetsky, also a junior, won his match at No. 2 singles for Greenwich against Timmy McCormack, 6-0, 6-1.
Freshman Alex Salib got the start at third singles for the Cardinals and pulled out a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (6) win over Pearson Biggs. Sophomore Tristan Sowter took a 6-3, 6-1 decision against his Ludlowe foe at the fourth singles spot.
In doubles action, freshmen Ishan Ambastina/Rohan Mittal were victorious for the Cardinals, registering a 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over Nolan Obolewicz/Connor Raney at No. 1. Sophomores Harrison Wolfe and Yuta Takahashi won their No. 2 doubles match for Greenwich against Ludlowe, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-1.
At third doubles, GHS seniors Francisco Fontana/Lucas Piccininno recorded a 6-4, 5-7, 10-2 triumph against Jackson Cooke/Tyler Katz. Up next for the Cardinals is a road match against rival Staples tomorrow at 4 p.m.
