Senior attack Bryce Metalios scored a game-high school goals, all of which came in the first half in Greenwich High School’s boys lacrosse team’s one-sided 17-2 victory over host Fairfield Warde in an FCIAC matchup held today.
“Although he’s still not at full strength, Bryce Metalios still managed to score six in the first half so we could rest him early,” Cardinals coach Bobby Lutz said.
Senior midfielder Flynn Milledge registered four goals, while junior Brian Collins tallied one goal and six assists for the Cardinals, who improved their record to 7-3. Freshman Colin Zeller had one goal and three assists, while freshman Mike Brescia notched one goal and one assist in the winning effort.
Lutz lauded the play of the freshman duo, noting hey have to be among the top freshmen in the state.
“Hopefully, they can continue to get the much-needed experience in time for our bigger games towards the end of the season,” Lutz said of Zeller and Brescia.
Senior midfielder Quinn Warwick tallied twice, while senior Wesley Zolin and sophomore Andrue Borelli had one goalie apiece for visiting Greenwich. Warwick was outstanding on faceoffs, winning 15 of the 17 he took for the Cards.
Well past the midway point of its season, Greenwich plays host to Trumbull on Thursday, then visits Fairfield Ludlowe on Saturday.
“With Ludlowe, Somers, Wilton, and then Darien, we must peak a little earlier to carry momentum into the post season,” Lutz said.
