Greenwich High School’s 1600-meter sprint medley relay team came home from the New Balance Nationals Outdoor with All-American honors.
The foursome of freshman Cameron Williams, sophomore Harrison Goldenberg, junior Gianluca Bianchi and senior ZJ Jelinek registered a fifth-place finish, combining for an impressive time of 3:30.72 in the 1600-meter sprint medley’s Championship division held in Philadelphia, Pa.
With the fifth-place showing, the Cardinals quartet earned All-America medals at the prestigious national meet.

“I am super proud to have run with such a great group of hard working athletes,” said Jelinek, who was selected as the Cardinals’ co-MVP for the spring track season and recently received the school’s Male Athlete of the Year Award. “Though it’s bittersweet being the last SMR I’ll ever run in high school, I wouldn’t have asked for another group of guys to run it with.”
In finishing a strong fifth in the event out of 25 relay teams that qualified for the national meet, Williams, Goldenberg, Bianchi and Jelinek improved on their seeding time by almost four seconds.
Also at the New Balance Nationals, Greenwich senior Andrew O’Donnell placed 11th in the Championship division of the 400-meter run, clocking in at 48.45 seconds.
In the 4×800-meter relay (Championship division), Cardinals senior Quinn Collins, Antonio Ciccarelli, Jelinek and senior Robert Enslein combined for a 12th-place finish (7:58.50).
