
Greenwich Academy’s volleyball team started its 2022 season by edging Greenwich Country Day School in a well-played FAA volleyball match held on Saturday at Greenwich Country Day.
GA won the match by game scores of 25-18, 25-20, 18-25, 23-25, 15-11. For the Gators, senior captain/outside hitter Casey Brower registered 26 kills, 17 digs and two aces. Junior setter Maddie Mendicina recorded 30 assists, 10 digs and three aces, while senior setter Sofia Marti had 19 assists, four digs and three aces to also pace Greenwich Academy (1-0).
GA returns to action Tuesday with a road match against host School of the Holy Child at 4 p.m.
Greenwich Country Day was led by outside hitter Cara Lehmitz, who tallied 10 kills, 13 digs and four aces.
Setter Savannah Hill recorded 12 assists, 13 digs and five aces, while libero Caroline Cabrera notched 15 digs and three aces for GCDS.
