Greenwich High School’s boys golf team completed an undefeated season in standout style Monday against Staples at Longshore Golf Club.

The Cardinals capped a 15-0 regular season by defeated Staples, 141-157, at Longshore. The 141 score marked a season low for the Cardinals, who received excellent nine-hole rounds from its entire lineup against the Wreckers.

“I’m very proud of the focus and work the boys demonstrated this season,” said Greenwich coach Jeff Santilli, who has guided the team for more than two decades. “It’s a great accomplishment to finish the regular season undefeated in such a great conference.”

Greenwich senior Dylan Harris earned medalist honors against Staples, shooting a 1-under-par 34. Sophomore AJ Enslein carded an even-par 35, while senior captain Charles Schrohe, junior Emmett Graham and junior Jack Hopper each shot a 1-over-par 36 for the Cardinals. Owen Duda, a junior, shot a 39 for Greenwich, which will compete in the FCIAC Tournament next week, then will play in the CIAC Division I Championship on Oct. 24 at Stanley Golf Club.

Greenwich’s 15 victories this season came against Brien McMahon, Westhill, Trumbull, Fairfield Ludlowe, St. Joseph, Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield Warde, Wilton, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Darien, Fairfield Prep and Staples.

The Cardinals last won the team title at the FCIAC Tournament in 2019. New Canaan has captured the tournament championship the past two seasons. Greenwich won the conference tournament from 2017-2019, from 2012-2014 and also claimed the FCIAC title in 2009, 2007, 2002 and 2001 with Santilli at the helm.

“We are looking to continue this into the postseason with the hopes we can have solid performances in the upcoming conference and state championships,” Santilli said.
