
Greenwich High School’s girls ice hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie against the combined Amity/Cheshire/North Haven co-op team today at Lou Astorino Ice Rink, thanks to Sophie Roth.
A senior tri-captain Roth recorded a hat trick for the Cardinals (5-9-1), scored one goal in each period. Seniors Caroline Lawrence and Peyton Jelinek registered two assists apiece for Greenwich, while junior Lindsay Allen had one assist for Greenwich.
Amity/Cheshire/North Haven took a 1-0 lead with 9:56 left in the first period, then Greenwich tied it at the 8:35 mark of the opening period on Roth’s goal off assists from Jelinek and Allen.
Roth scored off an assist from Lawrence with 5:26 to go in the second period, giving Greenwich a 2-1 advantage. Amity/Cheshire/North Haven scored two straight goals to take a 3-2 edge. The Cardinals tallied the equalizer when Roth scored off assists from Jelinek and Lawrence in the third period.
Up next for Greenwich is a home game against Hamden co-op at Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink on Saturday 5:45 p.m.
