
Sacred Heart Greenwich’s Varsity A lacrosse team had a lot to cheer about in its home finale against Hotchkiss School this past Saturday.
The Tigers continued their dominant season by defeating another opponent in impressive fashion before their home crowd, topping Taft School, 19-6, in NEPSAC lacrosse action.
“It was a great team win and we received a strong defensive effort against an excellent Taft offense,” Sacred Heart co-head coach Shannon Robinson said.

Senior co-captain/attack Kelly Haggerty recorded four goals and two assists, while junior midfielder Kaitlin Robinson registered four goals to power the Tigers’ offense.
Sacred Heart entered halftime with a 12-5 lead, then limited Taft to one second-half goal to add onto its advantage. Junior midfielder Maggie Bacigalupo had a hat trick with one assist and Payton Sfreddo, also a junior midfielder, scored three goals to also propel the Tigers.

For the season, Sacred Heart has won eight straight games and sports a sparkling record of 13-1. Senior attack Mackenzie Coleman totaled one goal and three assists, midfielder Georgia Lillis had one goal, junior Wowie Walker assisted on two goals and sophomore Ainsley Clough and senior attack Karina Sethi each assisted on one goal in the winning effort.
“It was a balanced attack,” Sharon Robinson said. “We had many hustle plays and some by saves by Laura.”
Senior goalie Laura O’Connor made an impressive nine saves for the victors, who are in action again tomorrow against host Hotchkiss School.

Sacred Heart will them play in the Prep Invitational Tournament May 20 and May 21 at Dexter Southfield and Phillips Exeter Academy.
