Brunswick School’s crew team swept all of its races against Fairfield Prep to retain the Kulaga Cup.
Each of the three Brunswick varsity boats won its event by open water.
The races were contested on Cedar Creek, which opens up onto Black Rock Harbor in Bridgeport, Conn. The boats raced against an incoming tide, but had flat water and relatively low wind over the 1310m course.
Brunswick first varsity eight boat defeated Fairfield Prep, finishing the race in 3:55.6. Rival Fairfield Prep posted a time of 4:00.2. The Bruins’ second varsity eight boat registered a winning time 4:13.7 in its race, while Fairfield Prep had a time of 4:28.9.
Brunswick’s third eight won its race with a time of 4:18.1. Fairfield Prep was second (4:39.1).
The Bruins will head to Lake Waramaug on May 11 for the Kent Invitational (formerly the CT Championships) with racing set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
