Using a strong second half, the Greenwich boys lacrosse team pulled away to 13-6 win over Brien McMahon Friday in an FCIAC matchup in Norwalk.
The Senators and Cardinals were tied at 5-5 at halftime, then Greenwich got rolling offensively in the second half.
“It was the tale of two halves,” Greenwich coach Bobby Lutz said. “Slowed down by penalties and sloppy play, it was tied 5-5 at the half. But we settled in and started playing much better defense the rest of the game.”
Junior Bryce Metalios registered five goals and one assist for the Cardinals, who outscored the Senators, 8-1, in the second half. Sophomore Brian Collins tallied two goals and seven assists, while senior Jack Cook added two goals and one assist for Greenwich.
Quinn Warwick had two goals, while John Cataldo and James Pilc netted one goal apiece in the victory. Warwick won 15 of the 19 faceoffs he took and goalie Will Clemens made three saves for the Cardinals.
Greenwich plays Ridgefield today at 2:30 p.m., then travels to St. Joseph on Tuesday and Darien on Wednesday.
