Scoring in overtime, Ridgefield pulled out a 12-11 win over the Greenwich High School girls lacrosse team in an FCIAC game held on Saturday morning.
Freshman midfielder Emma Abbazia recorded four goals with one assist to pace the Cardinals (3-2). Junior midfielder Noey Johnson tallied two goals and two assists, while sophomore attack Cece Tauber and sophomore midfielder Sophia Neitzell each scored twice for Greenwich.
The Cardinals came back from deficits of 6-1 and 8-5 to tie the score and eventually go ahead, 11-10. Ridgefield tied the score at 11-11 with 40 seconds remaining. Senior attack Delaney Roth had one goal and one assist and Abbazia had eight draw controls.
Grace Collier, a senior midfielder, had two draw controls for Greenwich, which received five saves from sophomore goalie Daryl Furno.
“I am proud of my team and their mental toughness,” Greenwich coach Tara Clough said. “We improved our level of play and finished strong. Hopefully, we can play them again in the tournament.”
Greenwich travels to Stamford on Tuesday and Fairfield Warde on Saturday.
