Receiving a balanced scoring effort, the Greenwich Academy lacrosse team rolled to a 13-3 victory road victory over Deerfield Academy on Friday. The win extended GA’s winning streak to three games.
Senior midfielder Margaret Maruszewski powered the Gators’ offense, scoring a game-high five goals. Junior Ellie Burdick recorded a hat trick, while junior Ava Butz tallied two goals and one assist for Greenwich Academy (4-3).
“We had a little trouble steadying the ship early on with respect to our own turnovers, but we were able to generate a lot of forced turnovers on our ride and in our defensive area,” Greenwich Academy co-coach Melissa Anderson said.
Sienna Tejpaul added two goals and senior midfielder Paige Lipman had a goal for the victors. Lipman totaled five draw controls, while Burdick and Butz each had three draw controls. Tejpaul won two draws for GA, which received an assist from junior Maddie Holden.
Senior defender Lila Murray had two interceptions and forced two turnovers, while sophomore defender Ellie Johnson forced two turnovers in the winning effort. Sophomore goalie Rebecca Arpano made two saves for Greenwich Academy, which visits rival Sacred Heart Greenwich Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
