Sacred Heart Greenwich’s lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day in style Saturday, coasting to a 17-4 victory against visiting FAA foe School of the Holy Child.
Fiona Lewis scored three goals, while Grace Lillis, Hannah Dempsey, Karina Sethi, Kelly Haggerty and Grace Heffernan each tallied twice to ignite the Tigers. Mia Cesare, Franny O’Brien, Caroline Fouts and Maggie Baccigalupo added one goal apiece to also pace the winning effort.
Dylan Drury assisted on three goals, while Payton Sfreddo and Dempsey each had an assist for the Tigers (5-2). Dempsey gained five draw controls, as did Kaitlin Robinson, while Lillis had three draw controls and three ground balls. Rachel Keefe and Laura O’Connor combined to make four saves for Sacred Heart.
Dempsey, Lillis and Keefe, all of whom are captains, are among some of Sacred Heart’s seniors. Sacred Heart coach Alyson Costigan reflected on the team’s group of seniors.
“We are super thankful for this senior class,” Costigan said. “They are all amazing girls and truly bring such great leadership, dedication and heart to this team. They are such role models for the underclassmen and always bring a positive attitude and high energy to every practice and game. It’s hard to believe they are already graduating, but we know they are all on to great things and we will miss them dearly.
The upcoming week will be busy for Sacred Heart. They will host Summit High School on Monday, play host to rival Greenwich Academy on Wednesday, face visiting Ridgefield on Thursday, then travel to Hamden Hall on Saturday.
